Samsung Bangladesh has brought the Galaxy S26 FE to the local market, unveiling it on Sunday at the Gadget & Gear showroom in Banani, Dhaka.

The specification

The phone runs on an Exynos 2500 processor. On the back are three cameras — 50, 12 and 8 megapixels — with a 12-megapixel front camera for selfies.

The display is a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate. It ships on Android 17 with the One UI 9 interface, and carries several AI-based features.

The battery is 4,900mAh. With a 45W charger it reaches 69% in 30 minutes. It comes in three colours with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and the price is Tk 121,999 including twelve months of after-sales service.

The number that actually matters

Buried in the announcement is the specification that should drive the decision: the phone will receive up to seven generations of operating system updates and seven years of security updates.

That changes the arithmetic. A phone at Tk 121,999 that is safe to use for two years costs about Tk 5,000 a month. The same phone supported for seven years costs about Tk 1,450 a month — and a phone that stops getting security patches is not a cheap phone, it is a liability holding your banking apps.

It is also the specification that is hardest to verify at purchase, because the promise only pays out in year five. Keep the commitment in writing.

The two features Samsung is pushing

Mohammad Shahriar, head of product planning for Samsung Bangladesh’s Mobile Experience (MX) business, highlighted two: My FanCam, which lets you record video prioritising one of two people who are together, and Super Steady with Horizontal Lock, for steady video while walking. Both are aimed at positioning the handset as a creator device.

Tasrif Khaled, head of marketing at Gadget & Gear, also spoke at the launch.

Where it sits

The FE line is Samsung’s way of selling flagship design and support at a lower price by easing off on the processor and the materials. Against the obvious alternative — an older flagship at a similar price on the grey market — the deciding factor is usually not performance but the two things an official launch brings: a local warranty, and the update window above.

Reading the charging claim properly

"69% in 30 minutes" is a real figure and a partial one. Fast charging is fastest in the lower part of the range and slows deliberately near the top to protect the cell, so the second half of the charge takes considerably longer than the first. The number is useful for judging a top-up before leaving the house; it is not half of a full-charge time.

Heat matters too. Those rates are measured in conditions kinder than a Dhaka afternoon, and a hot phone charges more slowly by design.

Three things worth asking in the shop

Is the warranty local? Twelve months of after-sales service is stated — confirm it is honoured here and not only at the point of manufacture.

Is the update commitment written down? Seven years is the strongest claim in the specification and the only one you cannot test on the day.

What does a screen replacement cost? On a phone bought to keep for years, the repair price matters more than the launch-day feature list, and it is the one number showrooms are least keen to volunteer.
