Tk 150 a paper: the re-scrutiny arithmetic, and the two rules that cost people money

The fee is charged per paper, which is not how students think about their subjects. Here is what a realistic application actually comes to.

Tk 150 a paper: the re-scrutiny arithmetic, and the two rules that cost people money

The headline figure is Tk 150, and it is accurate. It is also the smallest number in the calculation, because of the unit it is attached to.

The board charges per paper. Students think in subjects. For every subject that has two papers, the board’s instruction is that an application must be made for both — so the real price of challenging that subject is Tk 300.

What a realistic application costs

Take a student who thinks three subjects were marked wrongly, and all three are two-paper subjects. That is six applications at Tk 150, which is Tk 900.

Two subjects comes to Tk 600. A single two-paper subject is Tk 300. Only a genuinely single-paper subject costs the headline Tk 150.

None of this is hidden — the board states it plainly — but it is stated as a rule about papers rather than as a price, and the distance between those two framings is where people get surprised at the payment screen.

The two rules worth reading twice

Delete works, but only before you pay. The মুছে ফেলুন button withdraws subjects you have selected and not yet paid for. Use it freely at that stage; it is the only point at which the selection is reversible.

After payment there is no route back. The board’s wording is unambiguous: once the fee has been submitted, applied-for subjects cannot be cancelled, and the fee will not be returned under any circumstances. Not if you change your mind, not if you picked the wrong paper, not if the result comes back unchanged.

That last case is worth sitting with, because it is the common one. The fee buys the check, not the outcome. A re-check that confirms the original mark is a completed service, and the Tk 150 is spent.

Paying it

Five channels are accepted: bKash, Nagad, Dutch-Bangla Bank’s Rocket, Upay and Sonali Seba. Detailed instructions are behind the portal’s Help button.

One procedural trap sits here. Paying is not applying. After the money has gone through you have to return to the portal and press জমা দিন. A payment made without that final step is a payment made against no application, and the window closes on 7 November.

Spending it well

If the budget is limited, the question is not which subject disappointed you most. It is which paper carries the clearest sign of a mechanical error — a total that does not add up, a grade that does not match the marks beside it, a question that looks unmarked. Those are the cases where a re-check has something definite to find.

Spreading Tk 900 across six papers on general dissatisfaction is a different kind of decision, and the board has already told you how it ends if nothing turns up.

Count your own papers before you budget

Do not estimate this from how subjects are usually structured. Which of your subjects carry two papers is printed on your own result, subject by subject, and that sheet is the only list that applies to you. Combinations differ between the general, madrasah and technical boards, and between the streams inside them.

Count the papers you actually want re-checked, multiply by 150, and decide whether that number is one you are willing to lose. The board has already told you that it may be lost: the fee is not contingent on the outcome and is not returned if nothing changes.

If the total is more than you can spend at once, the staged route is open — apply and pay for the strongest case first, then add further papers later through the same process without re-entering your mobile number. The only hard limit is that everything has to be inside the window, which closes on 7 November.
