Apple released iOS 27 for the iPhone on 14 September. It ships built-in on the iPhone 18 series and can also be installed on older models. Many users say that after installing it, the touchscreen has stopped working properly.
What is reported
In posts on Reddit, users say parts of the screen sometimes do not respond to touch — the problem being worst while swiping. Others report the phone slowing down, and stuttering animations in various apps, to the point of making the device awkward to use.
Despite the discussion on social media, Apple has not commented.
Two user workarounds have circulated. One person said the touchscreen behaved normally again after restarting the iPhone, though they were not sure it was a permanent fix. Another said animations can stutter when there are too many app icons on the home screen, and suggested reducing them.
What it means in Bangladesh
This is a smaller story than the others today and a more immediately useful one, because it concerns a decision Bangladeshi iPhone owners are making this week.
The general rule is worth stating plainly: there is almost never a reason to install a major iOS release in its first fortnight. Point releases exist precisely because the first version ships with problems found only at scale. Waiting for 27.1 costs nothing and avoids exactly this.
That rule is sharper here than in the countries where these updates are tested most. An older iPhone in Bangladesh is likely to be a grey-market import, several generations old, possibly with a replaced screen or battery — and a replaced digitiser is precisely the component most likely to behave badly after a touch-handling change in the operating system. If your screen has been repaired outside Apple, treat a major iOS update as higher risk than the reports suggest.
The practical points, in order. Try a restart first, as one user found. If the phone is sluggish rather than unresponsive, give it a day — iOS reindexes and re-optimises after a major update, and performance often recovers on its own. Downgrading is not realistically available: Apple stops signing the previous version within days, so the update is effectively one-way.
And there is a warranty point specific to this market. The overwhelming majority of iPhones in Bangladesh were not bought through an authorised channel, which means there is no local Apple service path and no recourse if an update degrades a device. That asymmetry — same software, no support — is the strongest argument for being conservative about updates here, whatever Apple's release notes say.
