There are two Bangla words in circulation this week, and they do not mean the same thing.
পুনঃনিরীক্ষণ — re-scrutiny — is a clerical re-check. Somebody confirms the arithmetic and the transcription.
পুনর্মূল্যায়ন — re-evaluation — is a fresh judgement. Somebody reads the answers again and decides what they are worth.
For a student holding a result they think is wrong, the difference is the whole question. A totalling error is worth Tk 150 to find. A disagreement about how an essay was marked is only worth Tk 150 if a human being is going to read the essay again.
The documents disagree
The official application portal at rescrutiny.eduboardresults.gov.bd carries a title in its own words: ২০২৬ এইচএসসি ও সমমান পরীক্ষার ফলাফল পুনঃনিরীক্ষণসহ পুনর্মূল্যায়ন. Re-scrutiny including re-evaluation. Both words, with the second one explicitly added to the first.
The board notice reported in the press on 30 and 31 October uses only the first. The coverage in Jugantor, Bangla Tribune and Desh TV describes the procedure, the fee, the payment channels and the refund rule, and calls the service পুনঃনিরীক্ষণ or পুনর্নিরীক্ষণ throughout.

What is actually examined
Neither document says.
This is the gap worth naming. The notice is precise about the things that protect the board — that applications must be online, that the fee is per paper, that a paid application cannot be cancelled, that no fee will be returned under any circumstances. It is silent on the one thing that would let a student judge whether applying is sensible: what a person will physically do with the script after the Tk 150 is paid.
We have not found an official statement this year defining the scope, and we are not going to supply one from memory. What can be said is that the portal’s own title is the broader of the two descriptions, and that it was written by the same authority that issued the narrower notice.
What to do with the ambiguity
Treat the narrower reading as the safe assumption and apply accordingly. If your complaint is that a total looks wrong, that a question appears to have gone unmarked, or that a grade does not match the marks printed beside it, that is the kind of error a clerical re-check is built to catch, and the application is a reasonable bet.
If your complaint is that you deserved more credit for an answer you wrote, you are relying on the broader reading of a word that appears in a page title and nowhere else. It may well be honoured. But you are paying in advance, and you cannot cancel.
There is also a date missing. The board says the result will reach you by SMS on the number you supply, and does not say when. Students with university admission timetables to meet should plan on the assumption that the answer may not arrive before they need it.
Ask, and write down the answer
Colleges deal with this every year and the office staff will have seen what re-scrutiny results actually look like for previous batches — how many came back changed, and whether any of the changes involved marks on written answers rather than totals. That is not an official definition, but it is closer to evidence than a page title is.
If you do ask, ask for the specific case rather than the general reassurance. The useful question is not whether re-scrutiny ever works. It is whether, in that college, it has ever moved a grade for the reason you are about to pay for.
